Awesome Puri
Awesome Puri
We started our happy and most memorable journy to Puri on 20/11/2017 in order to spend our first marriage anniversary on 21/11/2017. We had some of the sweetest and unforgettable moments there.A newly married couple came closer to each other with a thrill which can not be expressed in words. Here, through this platform of blogging I wish to share my exhilarating experience and some small facts about Puri with each and every friend who are seeing my post.
At first we arrived at Puri station and from there we took a rickshaw and reached Hotel'Beach Bengal' which shares a view of the great Puri sea beach in order to entertain its boarders. first we visited 'Shree Jagannath Temple' which is one of the great 'chardham' pilgrimmage sites begun by King Ananta Varman Choda ganga Deva, the first of the eastern Ganga dynasty. We saw the famous Rath at the temple. There we also heard of a mystery. There is a myth that the flag on the top of Jagannath temple flows in the opposite direction of the wind's course. There were also arrangements of "Bhog" which could be got by cutting coupons. There is another mystery we heard of. our guide said that there is a murti of Lord Hanuman who holds the roaring of the great sea and therefore we can not hear the sound of the great sea in puri from the temple.
Later on we visited Udaygiri, Khandagiri, and many more. In Udaygiri and Khandagiri the rocks were cut artistically. There we walked holding each other's hands and enjoying our freedom in a romantic weather.
Next we went to have a mesmerising view of Puri Konarak Temple where the sun is worshipped as a Lord. The stone curved temple is structured like a chariot with innumerable horses and wheels.
The temple consists of intricate art work.It has its own themes and symbols. The art work of the temple throws light on the social life of that time. The wheel of the Konark Temple attracted me a lot.
According to my opinion, the wheel inspires the modern technic of making watches.Science was very developed even at ancient times.
Now I want to come to the chief attraction of Puri that is the incredible sea.No one can see the sea's end .I still remember the sound of the bells of sea-boats. I got a small idea about the lives of the men who catch fishes in the sea in order to earn their livelihood. The sun rise attracted me so much.It was really nice walking on the sea shore and picking up sea shells and stones.
There were arrangements of sea-foods and many more.We took some snacks such as Dhosa, Egg toast. My favourite was puri and sabji. My dear husband gifted me a nice bag. I also gifted him a nice pen. I bought some purses, pens for my mother-in-law and other family members. Still now I can hear the thrilling roar of the sea. When I am tired, I close my eyes and recall the beauty, vastness of the sea.
My mind still reminds me of my husband's words-"it would be so nice if our inner heart would have that vastness of the sea.If our mentality could have reached the broader aspect of the sea's vastness. If we can broaden our minds just as the sea.To sum up the destination was really enjoyable for us.
